Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
In a shocking incident in Baguiati, a 70-year-old woman named Kala Mishra was found dead in her flat on the morning of September 11. The elderly woman, who had been bedridden due to illness for seven years, lived alone and relied on two nannies to care for her. Her demise was initially believed to be a natural death, and her family even performed her last rites.
However, tables turned when the family reviewed CCTV footage from the old lady's room on September 19. The footage revealed a horrifying truth: one of the nannies, identified as Sophia Khatoon, had subjected the elderly woman to severe torture throughout the night on September 10. Disturbed by the evidence, the family immediately filed a complaint with the Baguihati police station.
Upon investigating the incident, the police arrested Sophia Khatoon, the nanny responsible for the elderly woman's abuse. During interrogation, Khatoon admitted to beating the woman for disturbing her sleep.
